Spring in MY Mountains

We're back home. If you are tired and weary, just head for my mountains. It's good for the soul as well as the body to stand there and look out at what nature is doing for all of us.
No wonder so many of us are recycling and composting and in general trying to think green to keep our little bit of the world from turning into a huge paved parking lot with nary a tree in sight.

As you all know, I go to the mountains to work out all of my frustration of the Atlanta world. It's peaceful, beautiful and if I so desire, I can work until I drop and then lay down and read a book until I finish it.

We went to Cooks for their special - a huge cheeseburger all the way and a pile of fries. I know Weight Watchers frowns on such but only in Blairsville to we endulge.

The Dogwood was in full bloom and I thought I'd share a picture with you.

I particularly like this picture of Papa. I don't exactly know why as he looks tired (he would say I worked him too hard) but it touches my heart.

Enjoy your weekend.
Love,
Mom

A Hiking We Did Go....

Sunday morning we got to go for a hike in Clifton Gorge. It was chilly and crisp...excellent for hiking. Mom & Dad have hiked the gorge with us before & can attest that it is a great spot. Brought the new camera & took some pictures. Here ya go.....

A trio of Canadian geese in the river

The blue bells were spectacular, they just flowed down the slopes.

The trillium are not all out yet, but this one was nice.

A picture of the river from the lower bridge.

Enjoy,

Tim

Biloxi

The four of us at Bellingrath Gardens near Mobile.

John, Barbara and Papa at the pool at the hotel. It was way too cool to even think about swimming.

Papa and I took our first old folks tour last week and spent three nights at the Beau Rivage Casino in Biloxi, MS.

Everything was brand new as Katrina tore everything up when she came through. In addition to the Beau Rivage we went to the Hard Rock Casino (as in Cafe) and saw the most amazing textile sculpture. It consisted of all the bras and panties that had been thrown on stage by some group's (can't remember who it was) admiring groupies.

Also so many costumes and instruments from every group that you could think of including one of Madonna's signature outfits. The Dave Mathews Band was well represented.

We had a good time, but I didn't particularly like being tied to the bus as I'm used to having my own car but for a few days it was great and I'd like to do it again.

The first night there, we went to the casino, of course. I put a dollar in the nickel slots and walked away with $251. I cashed that baby in right then and there!.

The food was wonderful. Great piles of steamed or iced crab legs and some of the best boiled shrimp I've ever eaten. Tons of food but those were the things that I heaped my plate with.

See, when you get old, you too can go on an old folk's tour and maybe even get early bird specials.

Mom

New Grandpup!

Introducing the newest McMurdo Grandpup - better know as Miss Bug. Take a look at the size of those feet. I think that Katie should have called her Miss Moose. Besides that, the piles that she occasionally leaves behind look like moose piles to me.

Everyone send good thoughts for Papa as he is having a hard time with puppyhood. It's something like the terrible twos!

Surprise!

Ok, I knew something was going on, but I wasn't quite sure what it was...but now the cat is out of the bag & I'm really excited. Jodi and Holger have been in cahoots and have planned a trip for me to go visit Holger, Katie and Mini-Schneider for a week either late in August or early September. That's all I know for the moment, but I will be sure to give you more details when I have them.

So some homework for the rest of you...what would be the ultimate McMurdo gift I could bring to our good freinds? Give it some thought and let me know what you think.
